On October 4th, China discovered a new Omicron sub variant BF.7 in Yantai and Shaoguan. The sub variant BA.5.1.7 was discovered for the first time in the Chinese mainland, according to Global Times. The World Health Organization (WHO) has already issued a warning about the highly contagious BF.7 sub variant. In the middle of this outbreak of a new strain, the Chinese government has taken harsh steps such as closing down entertainment venues and curbing public gatherings.
