A plea seeking urgent steps in connection with air pollution in Delhi will be heard by Supreme Court on November 10, as agreed by the apex court on Friday.
A Delhi-based lawyer sought an urgent hearing on the matter of escalating air pollution in Delhi before a bench headed by Chief Justice U.U. Lait. Due to the increase in stubble burning, the air pollution in the city has risen to a severe category, the lawyer pointed out.
The apex court has scheduled a hearing on this matter on November 10 as it said that it will need time for an intervention.

According to data from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR)., the air quality of the national capital turned “severe” on Thursday with an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 418.
The Overall AQI fell further deteriorating to 458, as per SAFAR data. he PM 2.5 and PM 10 concentrations stood at 458 and 433, respectively, under the same ‘Severe’ category, according to the SAFAR data. The range of AQO denoting air quality is: zero-50 considered “good”, 51 to 100 considered “satisfactory”, 101-2000 considered “moderate”, 201-300 considered “poor”, 301-400 considered “very poor”, and 401-500 considered “severe”.
The share of stubble burning in Delhi’s PM 2.5 pollution jumped to 34 percent on Thursday, the highest this season, which experts said was the reason behind the thick layer of pungent smog over the national capital.
According to an official order, all schools in Noida and Greater Noida were asked on Thursday to start online classes and stop offline classes for students up to class 8, till November 8.
