FIFA WC 2022: Germany – the Consistent One

FIFA WC 2022: Germany – the Consistent One

Germany may be a little behind Brazil in terms of trophies, but since 1930, the team has consistently done well in the FIFA World Cups.

14 days from now, the FIFA World Cup 2022 will kick off in Qatar, and before it does, it is crucial for everyone to know a thing or two about the teams taking part. In this article, we have compiled Germany’s journey in the FIFA World Cup since 1934.

Debut and first win

1934 was the first time Germany entered the FIFA World Cup, which was held in Hungary, and shocked the world with a third-place finish. In 1938, the team left the tournament in the first round, whereas in 1950, it was banned from participating. Four years later, Germany returned with a bang and lifted its first-ever FIFA World Cup trophy.

Total wins and best finishes

So far, the team has four World Cup trophies (1954, 1974, 2006, and 2014); only one behind Brazil. Apart from wins, the team has consistently finished in the runners-up spot and third place on eight occasions. In short, Germany has always maintained a consistent performance in the tournament.

Players to watch

The reason Germany has always been consistent is because their squads have always been full of talented and balanced players. In the upcoming World Cup, a lot will be expected from players such as Kimmich, Havertz, Sane, and Rudiger. Veterans such as Mueller and Neuer will be expected to guide the team.

Manager profile

Manager Hansi Flick has been a great asset for club Bayern Munich because, within a short period, he has led the club to numerous trophies. Furthermore, as always, a majority of the Germany national football team’s players are also a part of Bayern Munich, and therefore, they have been training under Flick since 2019.

Not to forget, Flick was also the assistant manager to Joachim Low, who guided Germany to the 2014 FIFA World Cup trophy.
