Banks have given huge relief to Jan Dhan account holders. Banks said that Jan Dhan account holders do not have to pay any charge for depositing or withdrawing money. Banks also said that no such charge should be levied on ordinary deposits. There is also no provision for maintaining a minimum balance on Jan Dhan accounts.

There seems to be no charge

The number of people opening Jan Dhan bank accounts has increased during the Koro epidemic. According to research by State Bank of India, the rate of Jan Dhan account opening has increased by 60% during the Koro epidemic. About 3 crore new accounts have been opened between April 1 and October 14 and the deposit amount is Rs. 11600 crore. With this, the total number of Jan Dhan accounts has increased to 41.05 crore. These accounts total Rs 1.31 lakh crore.

The scheme was launched on 28 August 2014

The Jan Dhan Yojana was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address on Independence Day in 2014. The scheme was then officially launched on August 28. The scheme was the foundation for the Modi government's people-centered economic initiative. On the sixth anniversary of the scheme, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the first step was to provide a bank account to every adult for direct benefit transfer, Covid-19 financial assistance, PM Kisan, MNREGA and life and health insurance cover. This work has been done with PMJDY.

Jan Dhan account holders are entitled to many facilities

Under Jan Dhan Yojana, an account can also be opened for a child below 10 years of age. As soon as you open an account under this scheme, you get an ATM card, accident cover of Rs 2 lakh, life cover of Rs 30,000 and interest on the deposit. In addition, you also get an overdraft facility of Rs. This account can be opened in any bank. In this, you do not need to have a minimum balance.
